Through the year

The Altes Land is charming in every season

🌸

Spring

Pruning prepares the orchards for the blossom, which lasts from about the end of April to the end of May. On cold spring nights the trees are sprinkled to protect the blossom.

🍎

Summer & autumn

The harvest begins in summer. Add harvest festivals, apple days and much more – and depending on the season you can buy our fruit straight from the farm.

✂️

Winter

From mid-November to early April we prune each of our trees, plus greenhouse work and machine maintenance.

News from Nagelhof

What do fruit growers actually do in winter?

There is no fruit to pick in winter, but there is still plenty to do at Nagelhof: pruning, greenhouse work, weed control in organic fruit growing and machine maintenance. (Article in German)

What is frost protection sprinkling?

As a fruit farm in the Altes Land we have to protect the harvest from frost damage. Frost protection sprinkling has been a proven method for decades: the water freezes on the trees and protects the blossom in doing so. (Article in German)
