A family business with organic fruit growing
Fruit has been grown at Nagelhof for more than 400 years. Today we share the farm with our holiday guests.
The farm is in the Altes Land, the largest contiguous fruit-growing area in Germany, just outside Hamburg.
Besides apples and pears we grow blackberries, cherries and blueberries. We rent six lovingly and comfortably furnished holiday apartments in different sizes (40 to 140 m²) that are available to you all year round. Large families are very welcome.
Nearby you will find a supermarket, a bakery, a postal service centre, a savings-bank terminal and an open-air swimming pool.
Organic fruit growing in practice
We look after about 85,000 trees. Each one is pruned in winter between mid-November and early April. About 15,000 blackberry bushes grow in our greenhouses. In organic fruit growing no herbicides may be used – so we hoe under the trees with a special machine.
Against frost in spring we sprinkle the blossom. We take the water from the ditches fed by the Elbe, and it flows back into the cycle afterwards.

Farm tours and fruit from the farm
Dive into life on the fruit farm: depending on time, we offer free guided tours for our holiday guests. Depending on the season, you can buy various types and varieties of fruit directly from the farm.

From October to April monthly rentals for working professionals are also possible – with short journeys to Airbus in Stade and Finkenwerder, to the DOW plant and to Stade. Get in touch with us.
